Only Jesus

Have you ever needed something and were told that there was only one person who could help you? For instance, you needed a discount and only the manager could apply it. Or you were at the store, and only the keyholder could open the locked case. Time and again, there’s only one person who can meet our needs or solve our problems. As in the natural, so in the Spirit. Only Jesus is the answer for what we need, and His involvement occurs in the Spirit and impacts the physical.

The Story: Hebrews 2:10-18

In Hebrews 2:10-18, the writer of Hebrews informs readers that God made everything and chose to bring many children into His glory. Jesus was the perfect catalyst to bring them into salvation. Jesus and the many are brothers and sisters. As a result, He told God that He proclaims His name to His brothers and sisters.

God’s children are made of flesh and blood; therefore, Jesus became flesh and blood. Only as a human could He die and break the power of the devil, who had power over death. So, He freed those who lived as slaves to the fear of dying. Jesus didn’t come to help angels, but the descendants of Abraham. To do this, He was made like them in every aspect so He could become their merciful and faithful High Priest before God. Then He could take away the sins of the world. Because of His suffering, He can help us when we’re tested.

The Lesson

These verses confirm that only Jesus can do it. Although God created everything for His people, only Jesus could give them access and make them holy. Only Jesus was made like humans so He could break the power of the devil and set God’s people free. Only Jesus is our merciful and faithful High Priest before God. As a result, only His sacrifice could take away sin. What He did and who He is qualify Him as the only One who can help us.

In this life, many people proclaim that there are multiple ways to God, like love, enlightenment, peace, and so on. All those ways are lies. Only Jesus gives us access to the true and living God. Only Jesus gives us access to love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23). Only Jesus can save us (Acts 4:12). Only at the name of Jesus will every knee bow and tongue confess that He is Lord (Philippians 2:10-12). Therefore, it’s only Jesus!
