Keep Em Lifted
Have you ever needed a lift? Like a pick-me-up. Nothing is wrong, but you don’t feel 100%. Sometimes you need a lift. Instead of looking for outside avenues, look inward and keep ‘em lifted. Meaning, lift your hands and worship the mighty God. This posture aids in lightening the load and changing the atmosphere.
The Story: Psalm 99
In Psalm 99, the writer worshipped the Lord. He declared that the Lord is king, so the nations tremble. The whole earth quaked because He sits on the throne. God is exalted above the nations. He told them to praise God for His name is great, awesome, and holy. God is a mighty King who established fairness. Throughout Israel, He acted with justice and righteousness. Therefore, we exalt the Lord because He is holy. Moses, Aaron, and Samuel called to the Lord for help, and He answered them. He spoke to them from the pillar of cloud as they followed the laws and decrees that He gave them. He answered and forgave them, but He punished them when they were wrong. So exalt the Lord, worship Him because God is holy.
The Lesson
These verses declare, keep ‘em lifted. The writer’s words gave us the reasons we can lift our hands. God is king, and He sits in a place of majesty. He is our mighty king, so that we can exalt and praise His name. When we call upon God, He answers. He is worthy of our praise. Just as He was with the people in Israel, He is with us. Yes, He punished them for their disobedience and forgave them. His forgiveness and faithfulness never run out. So we can praise our mighty God.
Let’s continue to lift up the name of the Lord because He is holy. When we focus on Him, worry has no room. Everything must flee in the presence of our mighty king. Jesus is mighty. So we keep ‘em lifted in reverence and surrender to our mighty king.
